Team

KOA have a team of over 30 experienced engineers, surveyors, resource planners and shop detailers. KOA support and supply all the resources and equipment needed to make a successful team. Our surveying team are trained in  Cadastral, topographical surveys, Trimble GPS systems (Onsite Base, ibase/vrs, Total stations, Robotic Total Stations, Dumpy and Digital Levels.

The Engineering team are trained in all aspects of software available for engineering, structural, civil and design.  Our team of engineers are trained in the use of our GSSI Structure Scan HR 3D unit along with the Radan 7 software.

All employees are offered in house training from our qualified employees along with the chance to upskill at courses offered through IPENZ or MNZIS plus other industry courses that come up.  The resources offered to our employees are up to date and NZ recognised qualifications, amendments, NZ Standards, Building Codes along with all recent software used for structural, civil and design.

Colin Fink

Survey Manager

Diploma of Surveying (Otago), Member of Institute of Surveyors NZ. Colin has over 40 years of experience in surveying specialising in urban and rural subdivisions, roading and earthwork design, infill subdivisions, Project Management and tender evaluation. Colin's background includes 14 years at the Palmerston North City Council. 1970 saw Colin as Project Surveyor in Antartica.

Patrick Manson

Survey Manager

Bachelor of Surveying (Otago University), Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, MNZIS, Patrick's expertise surveying skills have been applied to three of NZ's large scaled Wind farms, NZ Defence Force Air Bases, commercial and residential surveying.

Ivan Govender

Engineering Manager

Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Pr.Tech.Eng (ECSA), T.IPENZ, Ivan has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of Engineering, structural and civil and is the Engineering Manager for Palmerston North. He has worked overseas on several major projects. Ivan has extensive knowledge with seismic assessment.

Anthony (Tony) Barr

Civil Engineer

NZCE Civil, Tony has over 25 years of Civil Engineering experience during which he has been involved in design of siteworks and services relating to large commercial projects. Tony specialises in stormwater, sewer services, construction and contract documentation for commercial and industrial and fire reinstatement projects.

Brendon Schaare

Shop Drawing Manager

Brendon Schaare heads the shop drawing department joining the KOA team in 2007. Brendon has over 12 years' shop detailing experience, both as a detailer and project manager. Prior to moving into the detailing field, Brendon spent 12 years in the fabrication field, where he completed his Fitting & Welding trade qualifications - giving him a comprehensive insight into client requirement.

Greg Szakats

Wellington Branch Manager

Greg is a structural engineer with a wide range of expertise and experience in both engineering and management. His experience includes design of earthquake-resistant, cyclone-resistant and maritime structures. Greg understands the principles of fire engineering. Greg has worked in the UK, Australia and South Pacific islands plus Indonesia.

Christchurch

Malcolm Hanrahan

Christchurch Branch Manager

Malcolm is a Registered Professional surveyor with over 30 year’s experience in subdivision, land development and infrastructure project work. Most of his experience has been gained in Christchurch and the surrounding areas. Malcolm has a strong back ground in Cadastral Surveying and has just completed 8 years as a Cadastral Examiner on the NZIS Admission panel.

Brent George

Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, Registered Professional Surveyor, BSurv, MNZIS, MICS

Brent has an over 25 years of specialist survey background. Brent has specialist experience in GNSS methodologies, applications and data management, analysis, data processing, adjustment and quality control analysis on geodetic, photo control and cadastral surveys. He has been involved in subdivision, resource consents and crown land legalisation surveys.

Anthony Grace

Licensed Cadastral Surveyor

Anthony has over nine years of experience in the Surveying industry. Anthony specialises in urban and rural subdivisions, construction set-outs, building location certificates, As Built Surveys and topographical surveys utilising traditional GNSS and laser scanning techniques.
